Joe Miller

Joe Miller, 85, of Auburn, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

He was a graduate of Star City High School in Star City, Indiana. After graduating high school he joined the United States Navy. Thereafter, he attended Ball State University, where he majored in education and earned a master’s degree in biology.

It was at Ball State where Joe met his future wife, Luanne, who survives.

Joe taught advanced biology for the Fort Wayne Community Schools for 30 years, retiring in 1995. He coached as many years as he taught, including football, wrestling, tennis, boys and girls basketball. He assisted in leading the Snider High school girls basketball team to a state championship during his tenure. In addition to teaching, Joe founded Classic Tours, a business he ran with his wife.

Joe had many interests, including golfing as much as humanly possible, farming, flying his airplane, as he was an avid pilot and spending time with his family. Joe was a member of County Line Church of God in rural Auburn.

Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Luanne Miller, of Auburn; three children and their spouses, Susan and Charles Butler, of Bryan, Ohio, Carole and Jeff Seavers, of Lake James and Mark and Holli Miller, of Auburn; eight grandchildren, Tristan (Hunter) Lee, Nathan Lee, Lauren Lee, Connor (Ally) Seavers, Austin Seavers, Riley (Alexis) Seavers, Brock Seavers and Ian Miller; seven great-grandchildren, Colton, Charlotte, Oliver, Elliott, Lorelai, Sophie and Liam; brother, Vern Miller, of Lafayette; and two sisters-in-law, Nancy Miller, of Lafayette and Bev Miller, of Winamac.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Miller; and two brothers, Les Miller and Larry Miller.

A celebration of Joe’s life will take place from 2 - 5 p.m. Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Bridgewater Golf Club, 1818 Morningstar Rd, Auburn. There will be a service at 2:30 p.m. conducted by The Rev. Stuart Kruse followed by military honors being conducted by the United States Navy.
