John Gerard Wilson, 73, of Hudson, Indiana, passed away, Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2024, at the Laurels of DeKalb Nursing Home in Butler.
He was born June 24, 1951, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to George and Genevieve (Linder) Wilson.
John was a 1970 graduate of Bishop Luers High School and attended ITT Technical Institute in Fort Wayne.
He married Glenda Gibson on Sept. 8, 2001, in Pleasant Lake, Indiana.
John worked for GTE in Fort Wayne as a lineman and was later transferred to Angola after he was promoted to management. During the 23 years at GTE, he also was a police officer for the Fort Wayne Police Department. He later worked for 10 years for Hudson Industries as a Welder Technician and then worked for 10 years for Mastercraft in LaGrange as a truck driver.
He was a member of Pheasants Forever and Sons of the American Legion in Garrett.
John enjoyed pheasant hunting with his German Shorthaired Pointers, fishing, playing euchre and poker, growing vegetables and dancing to classical country music. He also had a private pilots license and loved to be up in the sky flying.
Surviving are his wife, Glenda Wilson, of Hudson; two daughters, Janet Ann (James) Agler, of Fort Wayne and Angelia Nicole Wilson, of Fort Wayne; son, Mark Edward (Andee) Wilson, of Cyprus, Texas; six grandchildren, Samuel, Lucas, Jackson, Connor, Colton and Carver; four siblings, Ann (Edward) Bobay, of Fort Wayne, Jane (Bill) Hamm of Maumee, Ohio, David (Wilfrrado Serrano) Wilson, of Lake City, Florida, and Thomas (Michele) Wilson, of Fort Wayne; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James (Linda) Wilson; and a sister, Mary Lou (Gary) Sims.
Services will be 2 p.m., on Monday, Oct. 21, 2024, at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center St., Auburn.
Burial will take place at Pleasant Lake Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Monday, Oct. 21, 2024, prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to Pigeon River Fish and Wildlife Area.
