Joyce A. Farrington, 85, of Fort Wayne, passed away, Friday, February 6, 2026, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.
She was born July 24, 1940, in Flora, Illinois, to Walter S. Smith Sr., and Charlotte J. (Beck) Smith.
Joyce attended Ravenscroft Beauty College in Fort Wayne where she received her Beauticians license. She also received a Dietary Manager Certificate from the University of North Dakota.
Joyce married Kermit “Gene” Farrington Jr. on December 12, 2003, in Auburn, and he passed away June 27, 2009.
Joyce dedicated many years to serving her community through a variety of roles. She worked at Debonaire Salon in Garrett for five years, spent ten years at Federal-Mogul in Avilla, and served for twelve years as supervisor of the dietary department at Sacred Heart Home in Avilla. She later worked eight years in a bakery in Garrett and concluded her career as dietary manager and head cook at Miller’s Merry Manor in Garrett for two years.
She was a member of the Garrett First Baptist Church.
Surviving are a sister, Dorothy M. Dell of New Haven; brother, Walter S. Smith Jr. and his wife, Jeanne of St. Joe; two nieces; two nephews; four great nieces; and one great nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother-in-law, Paul Dell; and two nephews, Steven E. Dell and David A. Dell.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, February 12, 2026, at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center St., Auburn.
Burial will take place at Christian Union Cemetery in rural Garrett.
Visitation will be from 10 – 11 a.m. Thursday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
