Karen Bueker Obituary

Karen Jean Bueker, 73, of Auburn, Indiana, passed on to her eternity on Wednesday, March 6, 2024.

Karen was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on Nov. 19, 1950, to Frank Henry Bueker Jr., and Helen Elizabeth “Betty” Kreischer. Karen was born with Spina Bifida and has fought her whole life to prove that even when the odds are stacked against you, there are ways to overcome them. She was brilliant at coming up with alternative ways to accomplish everything. Karen lived 71 years beyond what the medical professionals expected. She had a fiery, fighting spirit until the very end, and always refused to give up or accept the prognosis given to her. Karen was an overcomer!

Karen worked at Alliance Industries in Garrett, Indiana, for more than 20 years. She was a dedicated employee and worked as she could until a couple of months before her passing. She made some great friends while working there. Her former boss, Lily, was always looking out for her, and she thought the world of Lily.

Karen also developed a few hobbies and passions over the years. She is a former member and first chair flutist for the Auburn Community Band. She has competed for several years in the Special Olympics as a bowler. She won the state title in December and was so proud of herself. Karen also loved her pets. They were more than just her pets. They were her companions and her babies.

Karen was also the treasurer of the Aktion Club, a Kiwanis chapter. She took her duties very seriously and strived for excellence. She could be found at every event, bringing supplies in her packed station wagon and securing the funds. She especially loved the concerts that featured Todd Allen Herendeen.

Karen’s parents and grandparents preceded her in death.

She is survived by her brother, Steve Bueker, of Easton, Pennsylvania; her daughter and son-in-law, Nicki and Jason Hendricks, of Auburn; her grandchildren, Nikalys (Jayce) McKean, of Auburn, Rylie McKean, of Auburn and Katelynn and Spencer Hendricks, of Laramie, Wyoming. She is also survived by her great-granddaughter, Sylakin McKean.

To fulfill her pre-planning requests, there will be no visitation.

A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.

Her daughter, Pastor Nicki Hendricks, will preside over the service.

The family would like to express their most sincere gratitude to everyone who showed her kindness, compassion, love, and acceptance.

Her wishes were that all memorial contributions be given to the following: Alliance Industries, Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana, or St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Auburn, Indiana.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
How do you know Karen Jean Bueker?
We are sorry for your loss.
