Karen L. (Gerig) Scott, 66, of Auburn, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Smith Farms Manor in Auburn.
She was born on March 29, 1958, in Garrett, Indiana, to Joseph W. and Marcella C. (Danner) Gerig.
Karen was a graduate of DeKalb High School. She later graduated from IPFW with an associate’s degree in electrical engineering and studied music. Karen was on the dean’s list and was a member of the National Honors Society for 10 years while at IPFW.
She was certified as a Corporal Peace Officer in Toledo, Ohio.
In 1996, Karen wrote and produced two songs. She was a member of the 4-H for 10 years, receiving several state awards in cooking and sewing. She also volunteered at RSVP and made quilts for individuals going through cancer.
Surviving are her mother, Marcella Gerig, of Auburn; and three brothers and their spouses, David L. Gerig, of Auburn, Lyle J. and Kathy Gerig, of Auburn and Mark A. and Marcia Gerig, of Auburn.
Services will be held at 7 p.m., on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center St., Auburn, with Father Drew Curry officiating.
Inurnment will take place at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to Masses to the church.
