Kenneth L. Koeppe, 93, of Auburn, IN died Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at Parkview DeKalb surrounded by his family. He was born November 1, 1932 at the family farm south of Butler, IN to George and Lenora Koeppe. He graduated from Butler High School, Class of 1950. On December 5, 1953, he married Gayle (Snyder) at the Atlanta General Depot in Forest Park, GA. They celebrated 72 years of marriage. The couple resided their entire lives in DeKalb County, IN except for 27 winters escaping to Clearwater, FL, where they made many new life-long friends.
Mr. Koeppe was a lifelong dairy farmer south of Butler. He added a new life adventure in 1970 when he was the “opening day” employee of Don Ayres Pontiac/Honda. He then returned to the farm full-time in 1976 until his retirement. During those years, Kenneth was awarded the “Master Soil Conservation Farmer of the Year” in 1993 and served on the Wilmington Township Advisory Board.
Kenneth was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War. His Honor Flight trip to Washington DC, with his son, Mark was a highlight.
Kenneth was an active servant of the Lord and served as Elder, Treasurer and Sunday School teacher at the Newville Church of Christ, a church founded by his grandfather. He was currently a member of the Hamilton Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Gayle of Auburn; children, Kedric of Fort Wayne, Randy and Renee of Hamilton, Brenda of Waterloo and Mark and Debbie of Auburn. Survivors also include six grandchildren, Keegan (Olivia) Koeppe of Noblesville, Kiley (Tylar) Loziere of Noblesville, Kenneth Andrew “Drew” (Laney) Koeppe of Hamilton, Brooke (Tyson) Chamberlain of Hamilton, Lauren (Mario) Ortez of Radford, VA., and Libbie (Daine) Johnson of Fort Wayne. He was also the very proud great-grandpa to 11 great grandsons and 1 great granddaughter, Keller and Hayes Koeppe, Alex and Owen Loziere, Kenneth Augustus and Cord Koeppe, Braxtyn, Boone and Ryah Chamberlain, and Lorenzo, John-Paul and Benedicto Ortez.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, George and Lenora; a brother Earl (Norma) Koeppe; and sisters, Lola (Ford) Walter and Pauline (Max) Doub.
Services will be held at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 S. Center St. in Auburn on Tuesday, May 26, at 11:00 a.m., with Scott Ailes officiating.
Calling will be at the funeral home on Monday, May 25, 2026 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
Burial will take place at the Riverview Cemetery in Newville, IN.
Memorial donations may be made to the Honor Flight of Northeast Indiana or the Hamilton Church of Christ.
