Kenneth E. "Kenny" Nelson

Kenneth E. “Kenny” Nelson, 76, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2025, at his home in Garrett.

He was born August 24, 1949, in Garrett, Indiana to Harold “Gene” and Virginia (Blevins) Nelson.

Kenny was a veteran of the United States Army.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 178 of Garrett and the Garrett Eagles #1357.

Surviving are his mother, Virginia Nelson of Garrett; his wife, Susie (Smith); sister, Kathy Mallard of Maine; sister-in-law, Cherrie Nelson of Auburn; aunt, Karen Davis; uncle, Keith (Lisa) Blevins; and nieces and nephews, Dustie (Tim) Wallace, Rodney Mallard, Steve (Jamie) Nelson Jr., Jenny Nelson, Ryan (Sarah) Nelson and Stephanie (Andy) Rice.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harold “Gene” Nelson; three brothers, Ed Nelson, Steve Nelson and William “Bill” Nelson; and a brother-in-law, Bill Mallard.

A graveside service will take place at 4 p.m. Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Woodlawn Cemetery, 1605 Center St., Auburn, with military honors being rendered by the United States Army, American Legion Post 178 of Garrett and American Legion Post 97 Auburn.
