Kimberly A. Randinelli, 60 of Auburn, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2026 surrounded by her family.
She was born on July 3, 1965 in Auburn to John “Jack” and Ruth (Abercrombie) Randinelli. Kim was a 1983 graduate of DeKalb High School before earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Ball State University. Later, she went on to earn two Master’s Degrees in Music and Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University.
Kim taught music and was the band/orchestra director at both DeKalb Eastern and Fort Wayne Community School Districts from 1994 until her retirement in 2014. She was awarded Walmart’s Teacher of the Year in 1998 and she received the Reach to Teach award while teaching at DeKalb Eastern Schools. Kim served as the ambassador for the Ball State University Ambassador of Music for ten years.
After her retirement from teaching, she stay active with music by opening and running Kim’s Korner Music and More in Auburn. She also was the founder and director of the Auburn Community Orchestra for ten years and she directed the Auburn Community Band for eight years. In 2020, Kim was the winner of the Medal of Arts Award given by the DeKalb County Arts Commission. She was a member of the Auburn Presbyterian Church.

Her mother, Ruth Randinelli of Auburn.
Sister and brother-in-law, Kari and Troy Ackerman of Auburn.
Niece and her fiancé, Autumn Greenwood and Brandon Kinsey of Auburn
Niece, Anna and Jakob Black of Garrett.
Nephew, Gabriel Ackerman of Auburn.
Great niece, Olivia Kinsey of Auburn.
Kim was preceded in death by her father, Jack Randinelli on September 1, 2013.
Private family services will be held with a public celebration of life to be held at a date in the near future.
Burial will take place at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Auburn.
Memorial donations may be given in memory of Kim to the Randinelli Family Instrumental Music Scholarship in care of the Community Foundation DeKalb County, the DeKalb County Community Orchestra or the Auburn Presbyterian Church.
