Kurt Ashworth, 70, passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at his home in Butler, Indiana.
He was born on Aug. 9, 1954, in Highland Park, Michigan, to Gerald J. “John” and Carol J. (Hart) Ashworth.
He married his high school sweetheart Deborah S. Klug on Sept. 24, 1972, in St Joseph, Michigan.
Kurt was a veteran of the United States Navy, where he served as a nuclear propulsion plant supervisor in a submarine.
Kurt retired in 2020, from GE as a Senior Field Service Engineer.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Auburn.
Kurt enjoyed woodworking, working on and admiring different cars and trucks and reading.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Deborah S. Ashworth, of Butler; three children, James (Tara) Ashworth, Derek (Mehgan Edmonds) Ashworth and Laura (Nicholas) Frye; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Debbie Stewart and Rebecca Scherer.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Service will be held at 4 p.m., on Friday, June 6, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1801 N. Main St., Auburn, with the Rev. Jonathan Nack officiating.
Visitation will be from 3-4 p.m., on Friday, prior to the service at the church.
Burial will take place at 11 a.m., on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Riverview Cemetery, 2925 Niles Road, St. Joseph, MI 49085.
