Larry E. Carper, 85, of Wofford Heights, California, passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2024.
Larry was born to Lawrence and Lavon (DeLong) Carper in Auburn, Indiana, on July 16, 1938.
He grew up in Auburn and graduated from Auburn High School in 1956.
He served the United States Army in the 1960s out of Fort Hood, Texas, and in Germany.
He moved to California, in the early ’70s and was an avid bodybuilder, competing in many competitions until the 1990s.
He owned Mountain Valley Hose.
He leaves behind his daughter, Julie West; and three grandchildren, Christian, Marshal and Shaeleigh West, all of Powell, Ohio; nephews and a niece, Rick (Carolyn) Shull and Dennis Collins, of Auburn, IN; Terry Collins and Tammy Collins Crosby of Angola, IN; Roger Shull of Edgerton, Ohio; nine great-nieces and great-nephews; his beloved dog, Spike; as well as many friends and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters and brothers-in-law, Wava (Hagan) Collins and Delores (Roger) Shull.
Larry enjoyed hiking with his dog, Spike, and was active in his local Christian church.
He will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
Private graveside services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2024, at 1 p.m., at Roselawn Cemetery in Auburn, where he will be interred with his parents.
