Lloyd William France, Jr., age 92 passed quietly April 15, 2022 at home with his family.
He was born at home in Fort Wayne on October 1, 1929 to parents Lloyd William France Sr. and Virgle (Sampson) France. He was a 1948 graduate of Central High School in Fort Wayne.
After high school he served in the Marine Corps Reserves. Following his term with the Marines, he was then drafted into the Army where he served in the Signal Corps in Korea during the war.
After returning home he trained as a medical technologist, as well as becoming one of the earliest registered medical cytologists in the country. He worked at the old Lutheran Hospital on Fairfield Avenue for over 30 years, most of that as chief medical technologist overseeing day to day operations of the laboratory and blood bank.
In 1958, he married Marie L. Weaver at the Cathedral of The Immaculate Conception in Fort Wayne. They selflessly raised 3 children. They never gave them everything they wanted, but gave them everything they needed to be successful in life.
After retiring, they built a home in DeKalb County where he resided for the rest of his life. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed transforming and maintaining their property.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Patricia Armstrong, Diana Spillers and Donald, as well as newborn son Joseph.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, children Lloyd (Mary-Lynn), Jeannine (Marc) Bailey and Margo (Ronald) Nicolet as well as four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
