Lois Jean High, 81, of Corunna, Indiana, died on Friday, Jan. 31, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.
Lois worked for more than 20 dedicated years at The Auburn Foundry, semi-retiring around the year 2000.
After a few years of retirement, she decided to go back to work at Betz Nursing Home for five years. She also worked at Group Dekko in Avilla until health issues caused her to slow down, finally retiring fully at age 74.
She was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Auburn Lodge 556 since 1982.
She attended Souls Harbor Assembly of God in Auburn for many years.
She was born in Keen Mountain, Virginia, in 1943, to Otis Harvey Deskins and Mona Jane (Keen) Deskins. They both preceded her in death.
She married Donald LeRoy High on Sept. 19, 1968, in Auburn, Indiana, who also preceded her in death in 2006. They were married for a loving 38 years.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jeff Horn in 1972. She was also preceded in death by three of her siblings, Brenda Gail Deskins, Joan Deskins and Juanita Deskins Colley.
She has two sons surviving, Scotty High, of Garrett and John High, of Corunna;, and one daughter, Karen Hicks, of Alabama. Also surviving are nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and three siblings, Joyce (Milton) Ratliff, of Shelbyville, Bill Deskins, of Auburn and Joe (Wendy) Deskins, of Auburn.
The viewing service will be on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2025, held at Feller & Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center St., Auburn, from 5-7 p.m.
The funeral service will be at Souls Harbor Assembly of God, 3810 C.R. 40A, Auburn, IN 46706, at 11 a.m., on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2025, officiated by Mark Snodderly.
Burial will be at Fairfield Cemetery in rural Corunna.
Memorials are to the DeKalb Humane Society.
