Lola Mae (Wilder) Fairchild

Lola Mae Fairchild, a wonderfully caring and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at her daughter's home surrounded by the love of her family.

Lola was born on January 5, 1942 in Pleasant Lake, Indiana and attended school in Salem Center with a very select and special group of life-long friends. She later moved to Auburn where she lived in the same home for over 50 years and raised her children and grandchildren independently with remarkable patience and a lot of hard work. Lola worked at several places but enjoyed her role as Membership Coordinator at Kruse International the most. She retired from Kruse in 2003 to care for her mother. Lola loved animals, especially her poodles and her beloved cat Ivan. She enjoyed spending time in her garden and boating on the weekends (but never in a bathing suit!); later she loved playing Uno & Skipbo and eating far too many sweets with friends. But her favorite thing of all was bringing her family together for a celebration, any celebration, and spending time playing with her grandkids (or maybe ice cream... that may have been her favorite ;). She will be so very missed by all.

She is survived by her son, Adrian Fairchild, of Waterloo, Indiana and her daughter & son-in-law, Valarie Fairchild and Andy Hershberger, of Chicago, Illinois. Lola is also survived by her 6 beautiful (and spoiled rotten) grandchildren Marissa Fairchild, Kirstin (Jake) Wiliford, Miles, Finn, Tate and Wren Hershberger, one great-grandson, Jaden, and three great-granddaughters, Olivia, Isabella and Everly. Her siblings, Donna (Vic) Phares, Roberta Willits, and Steven Wilder also survive her and will miss her terribly. Lola was predeceased by her husband, Richard Fairchild, and later by her long term partner, Robert Bohler.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 9, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 875 South Wayne Street in Waterloo.  Additional visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday morning at the funeral home from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the Feller and Clark Funeral Home in Waterloo. 

Burial will take place at the Fairfield Cemetery in Corunna.

There will be a celebration honoring Lola's beautiful life following the services at her home in Auburn.
