Auburn – Lorna S Mavis, 84, passed away Tuesday March 25, 2025 at Laurels of DeKalb Nursing home in Butler.
She was born July 23, 1940 in Waterloo to Martin Josiah and Frankie (Wise) Miser.
Lorna was the bookkeeper and ran the office alongside her husband Gene, for Mavis Mobile Radio in Auburn.
She was an active member of the Auburn First United Methodist Church. She served at one time as President of the United Methodist Women’s group and enjoyed sing in the choir. She was also a member of the DeKalb County Republican Women. She was also a member and secretary for IESA and ETA.
Lorna married Karl “Gene” Mavis in January 1980 in the Auburn First United Methodist Church and he passed away July 12, 1998.
She is survived by 3 daughters and 2 sons, Ellen (Gene) Snyder of Auburn, Suzanne Rister of Antwerp, Ohio, Tim (Lori) Shuman of Waterloo, Karl (Darline) Mavis III of St. Joe and Karen (Dennis) Gilbert of Kendallville;15 grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and a sister and brother-in-law, Jane and John Wilhelm of Auburn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-in-law, Norman Rister, 1 great great grandson and a sister and brother-in-law, Patsy and Tom Farrington.
Services will be 11 AM Friday March 28, 2025 at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 875 South Wayne Street, Waterloo, IN 46793 with burial to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Calling is Thursday from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home. Memorials can be given in memory of Lorna to the DeKalb County Humane Shelter. To send condolences to the family visit www.fellerandclark.com.
