Lulubelle Dawn (Hapner) Harvey (Lou) 90, entered enteral rest at Astral in Auburn on May 13th, 2025, surrounded by her family’s love.
Born April 26th, 1935, in South Whitley IN, Lou was the daughter of Byrd and Peggy (Hollar) Hapner. She graduated from South Whitely High School in 1953. Lou married her High School sweetheart, Chuck Harvey, on May 16th, 1953 and were together for 72 years.
Lou pursued her passion for education earning both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Indiana University/Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW). Her career as a teacher at South Whitely Elementary School touched the lives of countless students and she retired in 1989.
A devoted follower of Christ, Lou was an active member of the First Baptist Church in South Whitely. She taught Sunday School, mentored through AWANA’s and served Women’s Missionary Groups. She and Chuck also participated in a mission trip to Alaska in 2008.
She enjoyed gardening, watching NBA games, and making her family’s favorite recipes such as banana bread, strawberry shortcake and baked steak.
Some of her happiest days were at the cottage on Long Lake spending time with her grandkids, ice skating and sledding in the winter or swimming, fishing and paddle boating in the summer. Lou loved to travel and visited various places with Chuck including Hawaii, Mexico, Isreal, Egypt, France and Germany.
Lou is survived by daughters RoxAnne (Leon) Beery, and Amy (Jeff) Houser; 6 grandchildren Travis (Chanel) Beery, Jared Beery (Emily Klar), Dawn (Jeff) Brown, Amanada Hoggard, Nathan (Bethany) Houser, Melissa (Brock) Sickafoose; 10 great grandchildren Gavin, Kolten, Nolan, McKenzie, Bryce, Harrison, Rayva, Audrey, Addison and Brynlee.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister LaraLee Harvey.
Lou Harvey’s life was a shining testament of kindness, faith and unwavering devotion.
Celebration of Life service will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday June18th, 2025 at First Baptist Church 111 Main St, South Whitley IN with Rev John King officiating. The family will receive friends and visitors at the church from 12:30 to 1pm prior to the service with fellowship and refreshments following the burial.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Fort Wayne Rescue Mission or Gideons International.
