Margaret “Marge” K. Ordway (née Schmidt, formerly Roepke) age 78, of Auburn, Indiana passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at Parkview Randallia Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Marge was the beloved wife of Maurice “Maurie” Ordway; cherished daughter of the late Charles and Dorothy (Krueger) Schmidt; loving mother of Robin (Mike) Duray and Randy (Julie) Roepke; dear stepmother of Tamra (Matt) Harris, Lance (Jennifer) Ordway, and Kent Ordway; devoted grandmother of JD Roepke, Jacob Roepke, David Duray, Erika Duray, Taylor (Nick) Funk, Shayna Harris (fiancé Eric Lauer), Tia (Wyatt) Decker, Lance Ordway II, Sierra (Brandon) Porter, Alyssa Meredith, and Tristan Ordway; cherished great-grandmother of Ruby, Tidus, Kaiden, Kaylee, Gracelynn, Tru, and Ollie; dearest sister of Kathy (Denny) Hughes, Betty (Dwain) Nolte-Hitchcock; cherished sister-cousin of the late Carol Krueger Lee, dear sister-in-law of Lucille Ordway and the late Lowell Ordway; fond aunt, adored cousin, and beautiful friend to many.
She was born on June 24, 1946 in Chicago, Illinois and life brought her to various homes in Illinois and Indiana.
Marge married Maurie on October 27, 2001 and the couple resided on an Auburn farm in a log home that they proudly built together.
She loved to travel and enjoyed trips with her family to England, France, Maine, and Arizona among other places. She and Maurie also enjoyed riding on their Harley-Davidson and taking trips to South Dakota and Florida.
She loved flowers and enjoyed planting beautiful flower beds and boxes each spring. She also enjoyed doing crafts and paintings, cooking for her family, decorating for holidays, and hosting an annual Octoberfest party. One of her favorite things was to give beautifully wrapped gifts to family and friends.
Marge had various volunteer and professional roles in the communities in which she lived with favorites being time at Danvers Library, Leo Jr/Sr High School, and KPMG accounting firm.
A lifelong Cubs fan, she enjoyed cheering on the team with her family at Wrigley Field as well as from afar.
Most important to Marge was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed!
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 South Center Street in Auburn.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with additional visitation one hour prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.
Burial will take place at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Auburn.
Memorial donations may be made in memory of Marge to the American Heart Association.
