Margueriette Lengacher Obituary

Margueriette Louise Lengacher (Weirich) of Leo, Indiana took her last breath here and her first in Heaven on Saturday, June 3, 2023, exactly one month shy of turning 93 years old.

Margueriette’s ministry wasn’t flashy or elaborate, but rather humble, modest work that touched one life at a time, including hosting families for lunch after church many Sundays, rocking her grandchildren, making apple butter sandwiches for whoever looked hungry, mending tears in clothing, and faithfully giving to her church.

When she wasn’t with her family or the Bridgebuilders Sunday School Class from Grabill Missionary Church, she was sewing blankets for orphans and missionaries, even up to just weeks before her death. Her family estimates she made thousands of blankets in her lifetime, between her great grandchildren, missionaries on Mercy Ships, orphans in Sierra Leone and beyond.

Margueriette loved her blanket ministry but her greatest joy was her family. She and Louis Lee Lengacher were married for 58 years. They were blessed with four children: Glenda (Stan) Whittern, Ralph (Lee) Lengacher, Reynold (Kim) Lengacher, and Mona (Marlin) Steury. She also had 9 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Lee Lengacher, her parents Levi and Elizabeth Weirich, her brothers Milo, Eli, and Harvey Weirich, and her sisters Rose Yutzy, Sylvia Cross, Naomi Schrock, Verna Helmuth, Edna Weirich and Ida Miller.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 9, 2023 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Grabill Missionary Church, 13637 State Street in Grabill.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 10:00 AM at Grabill Missionary Church with Pastor Tom DeSomer officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be sent to Grabill Missionary Church in care of Toupin's ministry, 13637 State Street, Grabill, Indiana 46741.

The last words of this obituary will be from Margueriette herself as these were the last words she shared with her grandchildren: tell your kids to follow Jesus.
