Marilyn Ilene Hess, 93, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2024. She lived her entire life in Auburn, Indiana, until a year ago when she moved to Kendallville, Indiana. She passed away at Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville.
She was born on March 26, 1931, in Garrett, Indiana, to Herbert Lester and Myrtle Helen (Habig) See.
Marilyn married John H. Hess on June 5, 1949, at United Methodist Church in Auburn, and he passed away on May 6, 2012.
Marilyn was a homemaker.
She enjoyed volunteering as a Sunday school assistant, for various blood drives and at the Child Evangelism Fellowship.
Marilyn served on the YMCA Board of Directors in the 1970s.
Marilyn loved her family and enjoyed attending the grandkids and great-grandkids different activities. She enjoyed following sports including basketball, tennis and swimming. She also enjoyed her yard and loved watching the birds.
Surviving are two children, Jeffery L. Hess and his wife, Cindy, of Rome City, Rene Lloyd and her husband, Russell, of Fort Wayne; daughter-in-law, Lillian Hess, of Avilla; six grandchildren, Carissa (Ron) Prater, Faith (Eric) Erexson, Jeremy (Sunnette) Lloyd, Cherise (Paul) Sevier, Brandy (Kris) Young and Ira Hess; 10 great-grandchildren; and two daughters of the heart, Marymae Beaty and Judy Riley.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a son, Stanley Dean Hess.
Services will be held at 1 p.m., on Friday, Nov. 1, 2024, at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center St., Auburn, with Pastor Mike DiSanto officiating.
Burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Auburn.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., on Friday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to Auburn Alliance Church or Child Evangelism Fellowship.
