Michael Lee Sproat, 72 of Black Canyon City, Arizona and formerly of Auburn, passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at Thompson Peak Hospital in Scottsdale, Arizona. He was born on June 5, 1952, in Auburn to Edward Franklin and Norma Jean Sproat.
Mike was a 1970 graduate of DeKalb High School in Waterloo. He worked as a quality control manager for Autoliv in Columbia City, Sheller Globe in Grabill and C&A Tool in Auburn for a total of 36 years, retiring in 2017.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting and spent a lot of time camping at Salamonie Reservoir with his family where he loved to be on the Reservoir fishing and skiing. He was passionate about his family and was a very loving husband, father, grandfather & great grandfather. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing golf. On Mondays and Wednesday he had fun playing pool with his buddies.
Mike honorably served in the Army Reserve for 6 years.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jodie Jean Sproat; daughter, Angie DePew of Bristol, Virginia; grandchildren, Alyssa Scalf (Zachary Scalf), Dylan DePew, Grace DePew (Alex Hensley), and Isabelle DePew; great grandchildren, Abbigail, Toby, Jack, Floyd and Abraham; two sisters, Phyllis Brown of Auburn and Kathy Johnson of Auburn and brother and sister-in-law, Ron and Janis Sproat of Rome City.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Sproat and Norma Sproat Ankney.
A gathering of friends and family will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at the Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 South Center Street in Auburn.
A memorial service will be held following the gathering on Tuesday at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family to help with expenses to get Mike back to Auburn, which was his final wish.
