Mildred Jeanne (Dix) Butler

Mildred Jeanne Butler, age 92 of Auburn, passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at Astral in Auburn.

She was born on February 19, 1933 in Harlan, Indiana.  She was a 1951 graduate of Harlan High School.      

Jeanne married William W. Butler on May 15, 1953 at the Parkview Church of Christ in Fort Wayne.  He preceded her in death on February 9, 2018. 

She was a very active and charter member of the Auburn Church of Christ where she taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School for over 50 years.  Jeanne was an avid card player, and according to her family, an aggressive Bridge player.  Over the years she taught her grandchildren and great grandchildren how to play euchre. 

Most important to Jeanne was her family and she loved spending time with them.  She was always following and supporting her grandchildren and great grandchildren in all of their sports and events.  She will be greatly missed! 

Survivors include:

Daughter, Jackie Butler (Bruce) of Kendallville.

Three grandchildren and their spouses, Misti and Kadish Evans of Angola, Tabatha and Micah Mackison of Indianapolis and Chad and Joslyn Hall of Indianapolis.

Six great grandchildren, Avery Evans, Ashtyn Evans, Dominik Hall, Hadley Mackison, Jonathon Hall and Boden Mackison.

Her beloved adopted cat, McGraw.

Several nieces and nephews.

Jean was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Dix; her mother, Rose (Logan) Conwell; her husband, William Butler; her son, Mike Butler and one sister, Barbara Springer.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 31, 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Auburn Church of Christ, 208 West 18th Street in Auburn with Pastor Joe Heins officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service from 12:00 to 1:00 PM on Monday at the church.

Burial will take place at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Auburn.

Memorial donations may be made in memory of Jean to the Woodburn Christian Children's Home, 24902 Notestine Road, Woodburn, Indiana 46797 and the Lake James Christian Assembly, 1880 West 275 North, Angola, Indiana 46703.
