Penny Sue Silberg, 63, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at her home in Auburn.
She was born on November 5, 1962, in Kendallville, Indiana.
She was a 1982 graduate of East Noble High School in Kendallville where she ran track and cross country for the Knights. In 1984, Penny graduated from Vincennes University.
Penny married Greg M. Silberg on May 18, 1991, in Angola, Indiana.
Penny worked in banking for Wells Fargo and Farmers and Merchants Bank, retiring in 2019 after 36 years in the industry.
She was a member of the Church at Garrett.
Penny also was a member of Kiwanis Club and the Lions Club.
Penny was an avid Indianapolis Colts fan. She enjoyed bowling and, in retirement, developed a love for golf. A true people person, Penny cherished spending time with family and especially enjoyed the many family gatherings shared with her loved ones.
Surviving is her husband of 35 years, Greg Silberg of Auburn; son, Logan M. Silberg of Auburn; siblings, Randy L. and Brenda Leas of Kendallville, Tena and Kerry Ernsberger of LaOtta, Lori and Tim Brandon of Garrett, Earl and Stacy Leas of Coldwater, Michigan, and Jane and Mike Burnside of Manton, Michigan; two sisters-in-law and their spouses, Janet and Bob Ayers of Pleasant Lake, and Carolyn and Denny Juergens of Crooked Lake; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father and stepmother, Kenneth E. and Martha Jane Leas; and her mother, Sally (Stahl) Chandler.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 20, 2026, at Church at Garrett, 1370 S. Randolph St., Garrett, with visitation from 10 – 11 a.m. Monday, prior to the service at the church. Pastor Tom Wilcoxson will be officiating.
A graveside service will take place at 3 p.m. Monday, July 20, 2026, at Carter Cemetery in rural Pleasant Lake.
Visitation also will be from 3 – 7 p.m. Sunday, July 19, 2026, at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center St., Auburn.
