Phyllis Ann Ladd, 92 of Fort Wayne and formerly of Ashley, passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2024 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.
She was born on August 26, 1932 at her family’s Fairfield Center home to Theodore “Ted” and Anna (Vogtman) Harmes. She was a 1950 graduate of Ashley High School.
Phyllis married Ernest “Ernie” Ladd on September 2, 1952 in Pleasant Lake, Indiana. He resides in Fort Wayne.
She worked as the school secretary for 34 years at Waterloo High School and then the Ashley High School, retiring in 1994. She was a former member of the Ashley United Methodist Church and the St. Joe United Methodist Church in Fort Wayne. Many years ago she was also a member of the Work and Play Club in the Ashley – Hudson area. Phyllis liked making ceramics and crafts. More than anything, she enjoyed raising her family and being a homemaker. She loved spending time with her family and attending her kids and grandkids games and events.

Her husband of 72 years, Ernie Ladd of Fort Wayne.
Son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Shelly Ladd of Lebanon, Indiana.
Daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Greg Shippy of Auburn.
Son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Corinna Ladd of Fort Wayne.
Five grandchildren and their spouses, Jamie Ladd, Heather and Jim Leas, Matthew and Cassie Ladd, Justin Shippy and Michelle Shippy.
Four great grandchildren, Molly, Avery, Juniper and Vance.
Several loving nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Max Harmes, Richard Harmes and Tommy Harmes and one sister, Janet Sullivan.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 16, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 South Center Street in Auburn.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday following the visitation at the funeral Home.
Burial will take place at the Fairfield Cemetery north of Corunna.
Memorial donations may be given in memory of Phyllis to the Turnstone Center for Children & Adult with Disabilities, 3320 North Clinton Street, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46805.
