Rev. Eugene W. Woolever, 84 of Corunna died Sunday, July 17, 2011 at DeKalb Memorial Hospital in Auburn from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Mr. Woolever worked for Kraft Foods in Kendallville for 18 years from 1966 until his retirement in 1984. Also in 1966 he began pasturing at Center Chapel United Methodist Church in Kendallville for 11 years then for Meese Chapel United Methodist Church in Auburn for 25 years. He was coordinator for the Northeast District United Methodist Work Camp. He also was a longtime farmer.

He was a member of the DeKalb County Farm Bureau and he was a 60-year member of Gideon’s International.

He was born July 30, 1926 in DeKalb County to Leal and Nellie (Long) Woolever and they have both preceded him in death.

He married Anne “Christine” Conner on Sept. 6, 1947 and she died Jan. 15, 2000.

Surviving are 4 children and 13 grandchildren;  Ruth Anne (Richard) Garrison of Kendallville and their children, David (Shelly) Garrison, John P. Garrison, Pamela (Gene) Garrison Engels and Tamela Garrison; Richard (Edith) Woolever of Waterloo and their children, Jennifer Woolever, Bartholomew Woolever, LouAnn Strack and Kenneth Woolever; John M. (Vickie) Woolever of Auburn and their children, Amanda (Travis) Aeschliman, Elizabeth Woolever and Ashley Woolever; Mary (John) Stapleton of Elkridge, Maryland and their children, John E. Stapleton and Tim Stapleton. Also surviving are 9 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, his sister and brother in law, Virginia and George Friend and a grandson-in-law, Christopher Strack.

Services will be 11 AM Thursday July 21, 2011 at First Christian Church, 110 West Waits Road, Kendallville, IN 46755 with Dr. Thomas Clothier officiating. Burial in Sedan Cemetery, Corunna. Calling is Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at
Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 South Center Street, Auburn, IN. and also 1 hour prior to the service Thursday from 10 to 11 at the church. Memorials can be directed to Meese Chapel United Methodist Church or Gideon’s International.
