Richard Allen Harter

Richard Allen Harter, 77, passed away, Friday January 23, 2026.

He was born September 5, 1948 to John and Violet (Cook) Harter and they have preceded him in death as have three siblings, Charles Harter, Michael Harter, Johnette Billings and a granddaughter Taylor Kilgore-Harter.

Richard was a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving 6 years in Germany and Korea during the Vietnam war.

He worked for County Line Cheese until they closed. He then worked as a maintenance man for West Edge Trailor Court with a few jobs in between.

Richard was a life long member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Auburn where he loved to serve the Church and help its members anyway possible.

Surviving are 3 sons, Greg Harter of Auburn, Doug (Lisa) Harter of Auburn, and Scott (Angela) Harter of Fort Wayne; 5 granddaughters, Elizabeth Harter, Emily (Robert) Schuster, Megan (Brian) Bailey, Samantha Harter, Amanda Harter; 5 great granddaughters and one great grandson who isn’t here yet; a brother, James (Ann) Harter of Brownsburg and 2 sister-in-law’s, Lucy Harter of Columbia City and Cindy Harter of Leo.

Services will be 11 AM Friday January 30, 2026 at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center Street, Auburn, IN 46706 with burial to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Auburn. Calling is Thursday from 3 to 7 PM and 1 hour prior to the service Friday from 10 to 11 AM at the funeral home.
