Richard L. Malcolm, age 89 of Butler, passed away at home surrounded by his family on November 17, 2024.
He was born on May 12, 1935 in Fort Wayne to Ralph S. and Bernice L. (Maloney) Malcolm. He was a 1954 graduate of Huntertown High School, where he was named to the FFA Student State Farmer of the Year Award for 1954.
Mr. Malcolm honorably served his country in the United States Army.
He married his first wife, Maraquita Winn on September 13, 1958 at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Fort Wayne. She preceded him in death on December 24, 1979. He married his second wife, Ruth M. (Goings) Nix on August 7, 1982 and she resides in Butler.
Mr. Malcolm was a lifetime farmer and his life revolved around farming. He worked alongside his father growing up and he continued that hard work ethic on the family farm. Richard loved his family, he was especially proud of his grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Auburn and he was a Farm Bureau member.

Stepson and daughter-in-law, Clyde and Rose Nix of Leo.
Stepdaughter and son-in-law, Kristi and Tony Schooler of Bartlet, Illinois.
Daughter-in-law, Tami Nix of Columbia City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Maraquita Malcolm; stepson, Wayde Nix; brother, Joe Malcolm; brother and sister-in-law, Kenny and Jean Malcolm; sister-in-law, Beverly Malcolm and step great grandson, Romeo Lewis.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2024 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 South Center Street in Auburn. Additional visitation will be held one hour prior to the Mass on Friday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 500 East Seventh Street in Auburn with Monsignor William Schooler and Father Drew Curry officiating.
Burial will take place at the St. Vincent Cemetery in Fort Wayne.
Memorial donations may be made in memory of Mr. Malcolm to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the American Heart Association.
