Richard Earl “Dick” Beckley, age 78 of Fremont, passed away at home on Friday, December 26, 2025.
He was born on April 24, 1947 in Kendallville to Earl and Margaret (Davidsen) Beckley. He was a 1965 graduate of Wolf Lake High School.
Dick married Patty S. Sutton on October 3, 1970 in South Milford. She resides in Fremont.
He honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
Dick worked in auto body repair for over 40 years, retiring in 2011. He was a member of the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, LaGrange.
He loved to tinker with anything that he could get his hands on. He especially liked to work on cars and trucks, passing this trait along to his grandkids. He even restored a 1948 Studebaker pickup truck over the course of six years. Dick liked to stay busy and he enjoyed working in his yard and making his garden look beautiful every year.
Dick is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patty Beckley; daughter, Nichole Beckley (James Shaw) of Coldwater, Michigan; Daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Jim Guldin of Howe; son, Scott Beckley (Crystal) of Aurora, Colorado; eight grandchildren, Jordyn, Alexandra, Joshua, Lane, Jake, Caitlin, Olivia and Kamdyn and three great grandchildren with one on the way, Beckett, Amiah and Reha.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Betty Boomershine.
Per Dick’s wishes, no services will be held at this time.
