Robert Harold Freeman, 96, of Kendallville, Indiana, died on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2024, at Orchard Pointe Health Campus in Kendallville.
He was born on Dec. 11, 1927, in Auburn, Indiana, to Roscoe and Esther L. (Huntington) Freeman.
Robert was a veteran of the United States Navy serving in World War II. He also served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
He married Patsy R. Draime on Dec. 22, 1951, in Auburn, Indiana, and she survives in Kendallville.
Robert was a farmer in Helmer. He ran the elevator for Stroh Farm Supply for 30 years, retiring in 1988. He then went to work as a machine operator for Colwell in Kendallville, retiring after 12 years of service.
He was a member of America Legion Post 86 of Kendallville.
Surviving are five children, Robert L. and Connie Freeman, of Kendallville, Roger L. and Joan Freeman, of North Pole, Alaska, Rex L. and Susan Freeman, of Mongo, Randy L. and Willadean Freeman, of Angola and Rodd L. and Elizabeth Freeman, of Garrett; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ronald Lynn Freeman; brother, Dale C. Freeman; and two sisters, Donna King and Ila Frey.
Per Robert’s wishes, cremation will take place. There are no services scheduled at this time.
