Robert W. King

It is with heavy and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Robert W. King, 82, of Rome City, Indiana, who left us on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025.  

He was born on Nov. 16. 1942, to Alex L. and Erna A. King in Fort Wayne. Indiana. 

From the moment he was born until he took his last breath, he was a great joy to his family, friends and his many acquaintances. He touched the lives of so many people with his smile, wit, humor and his magnetic personality. Once you met "Bobert" you knew you had met a very special person and you now had a friend who you would never forget. He left a huge void in our lives.

Bob was a graduate of Auburn High School Class of 1961.

He also served his country in the United States Army and received an honorable discharge. 

He married Pamela Stanski in February 1963. She tragically lost her life in a car/train accident in July 1965. 

Bob was a hard worker and took much pride in his work. He followed in his dad's footsteps and after his dad passed away, he stepped in and became the owner and operator of King's Decorating Company, a business that his dad started in the early 1970s. 

Bob not only had a beautiful and attractive personality, that same personality was definitely visible in his desire to make homes, barns and buildings attractive and bringing their beauty back to life again with a fresh coat of paint. 

He is survived by two brothers and two sisters, William “Bill” and Pat King, of Auburn, Randy and Pam King, of Auburn, Lynne “Inna” Bireley, of Angola and Rebecca Robinson and her husband, Tom Stahl, of Corunna; and several nieces and nephews. He also left behind his little doggie, Benji, who  is still looking for him.

Also those preceding him in death include his sister, Shirley Douglas; two nieces, Kris Douglas and Sherry King,  and a nephew, Joey Robinson.

A gathering of family and friends to honor Bob's life will take place on Friday, Feb. 7, 2025, from  2-6 p.m., at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 S. Center St., Auburn, Indiana, with a memorial service at 4:30 p.m. on Friday during visitation. 

Memorials may be directed to Feller and Clark Funeral Home to help with expenses.
