Robert D. "Bob" Woodward

Robert D. “Bob” Woodward, 73, of Auburn, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2024, at the Laurels of DeKalb in Butler, Indiana.

He was born on March 27, 1951, in Angola, Indiana, to Robert and Charlotte (Meade) Woodward.

Bob was a veteran of the United States Army. He also served his country and state in the Indiana National Guard.

He was a deputy for the DeKalb County Sherriff’s Department for 50 years. He served as a D.A.R.E. officer and was an EMT for the DeKalb County Ambulance Service for several years.

He served on the City Council in Garrett.

Bob was a member of American Legion Post 31 in Angola.

He enjoyed coaching his two sons in Little League Baseball.

Bob married Dorlis (Bolen) on Feb. 14, 2009, in Garrett, Indiana, and she survives in Auburn.

Also surviving are three children, Renee (Troy) Booth, of Kendallville, Robert (LeeAnne) Woodward, of Garrett and Ryan (Sheena) Woodward, of Butler; stepdaughter, Kimberly Sheetz, of Auburn; four grandchildren, Jessica Collins, Bobby Collins Jr., Cru Woodward and Maggie Woodward; four great-grandchildren, Blaze Patrick, Kenzie Patrick, Zoey Patrick and Zaydie Patrick; and four siblings, Mike (Val) Woodward, of Ashley, Joe Woodward, of Garrett, Joyce (Bob) Bishop, of Garrett and Nila Woodward, of Michigan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John Woodward; and a sister, Eva Martin.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-5 p.m., on Monday, Dec. 30, 2024, at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center St., Auburn.
