Rose M (Lobdell) Akey

Auburn – Rose M Akey, 97 of Auburn passed away Friday May 2, 2025 at Betz Nursing Home in Auburn.

She was born December 14, 1927 in Avilla to John and Grace (Kreinbrink) Lobdell.

Rose was a 1946 graduate of Avilla High School.

She worked at Hamilton Standard, The DeKalb Advertiser, City Market in Auburn and Kruse International.

She and her husband William loved to go to the Auburn American Legion Post 97 to play Bingo and this time of the year so they could mushroom hunt together.

Rose married William F Akey on February 28, 1948 and he passed away July 26, 1984.

She is survived by 4 sons and daughter-in-law’s, Stanley and Annette Akey of Kendallville, Jerry and Dana Akey of Auburn, Kenneth and Vonda Akey of Waterloo and Bill and Cindy Akey of Waterloo; 8 grandchildren, Debra (Larry) Rowe, Chris (Alison) Akey, Neah (Brett) Ellzroth, Patrick (Christina) Akey, Wesley (Anita) Akey, Kraig (Kari) Akey and Carrie (Jeff) Dunn; 18 great grandchildren and 2 great great granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband William “Skeeter” Akey, granddaughter Jamie Akey, 2 brothers, Bill Lobdell, John Lobdell and a sister Florence Dominy

Services will be 11 AM, Wednesday May 7, 2025 at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center Street, Auburn, IN with burial to follow the service in Woodlawn Cemetery, Auburn. Calling is Tuesday May 6 from 4 to 7 PM and also 1 hour prior to the service Wednesday from 10 to 11 AM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials given in memory of Rose be directed to the Auburn American Legion, Post 97.
