Shirley Jean (Swary) Fee

Shirley Jean Fee, 82 of Auburn, passed away at her home on Sunday, May 10, 2026. 

She was born on October 17, 1943 in Paulding, Ohio to Paul and Julia (Hale) Swary.  She was a 1961 graduate of Hamilton High School.  She went on to graduate from International Business College in Fort Wayne.   

Shirley married Jerry Edward Fee on June 24, 1962 in Hamilton.  He resides in Auburn. 

She worked for 12 years at International Harvester in Fort Wayne from 1962 until retiring in 1974.  For several years during the 1980s, Shirley and Jerry, with the help of their children, owned and operated the Hamilton Drive-In Diner.  After Jerry’s retirement in 1997, they enjoyed traveling and spending winters in both Florida and Arizona.    

Shirley enjoyed cooking, reading, completing word searches and she was always sending cards to people for all occasions.  She warmly greeted people with her beautiful smile and she was always putting others needs before her own, truly living by the Golden Rule.  Shirley most treasured spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She will be greatly missed!

Survivors include:

Her loving husband of 64 years, Jerry Fee of Auburn.

Daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Steve Hartman of Auburn.

Son, Kirk Fee of Hamilton.

Three grandchildren, Nathan and Alison Hartman, Jared Hartman and Lucas Hartman.

Three great grandchildren, Vincent, Dominic and Becklan.

Sister, Linda Carrigan of Auburn.

Several other loving extended family members and special friends. 

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Dave Swary and Denny Swary.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2026 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 875 South Wayne Street in Waterloo.  Additional visitation will take place one hour prior to the service on Friday morning at the funeral home from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. 

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Rev. Robert Craig officiating.

Burial will follow the service at Woodlawn Cemetery in Auburn.

Memorial donations may be given in memory of Shirley to NATMUS, 1000 Gordon M. Buehrig Place, Auburn, Indiana 46706 and the Eckhart Public Library, 603 South Jackson Street, Auburn, Indiana 46706.
