Thelma M (Traxler) Buchs

Hamilton – Thelma M. Buchs, 99, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2026 at her home in Hamilton.

She was born December 30, 1926 in Kendallville to Howard and Frances (Lemper) Traxler.

She was a 1944 graduate of Avilla High School.

was a homemaker and worked alongside her husband on the family farm.

She married Leo Buchs Jr. on April 9, 1947 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Avilla and he passed away April 23, 1983.

Surviving are 6 children, Helen Wallen of Waterloo, Lee (Jean) Buchs of Hamilton, Joan (Mark) Steffen of Washburn, Tennessee, Gerald (Melanie) Buchs of Hudson, Ruby Coburn of Hamilton and Sharon (Roy) Hulbert of Pleasant Lake; a sister, Lorraine Weaver of Fort Wayne; 16 grandchildren, Mike (Stephany) Williams, Brad (Jamie) Williams, Christina (Greg) Bowers, Laura (Jeremy) Altaffer, Jason Buchs, Walter (Hannah) Buchs, Brea Miller, Amber (Joshua) Solomon, Joshua (Serena) Buchs, Angela (Tony) Mowery, Jack (Christy) Coburn Jr, Jessica (Phil) Miller, Adam (Jessica) Hulbert, Kim (Jeremy) Myers, Amanda (Allen) Pavel, Steve Miller and 26 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 5 brothers and 2 sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 1039 CR 39, Waterloo, IN 46793 with burial to follow in St. Michael Catholic Cemetery. Calling is 2 hours prior to the mass from 9 to 11 am at the church. Memorials can be given in memory of Thelma to the St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church or Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana,
