Tim A. McAlhany, 70 of Conway, South Carolina and formerly of Waterloo, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2026, at his home in Conway.
He was born December 6, 1955, in Decatur, Indiana to Robert K. and Evelyn L. (Fisher) McAlhany.
Tim was a 1974 graduate of DeKalb High School. He continued his education at Indiana University Fort Wayne, where he earned an associate degree in Criminal Justice and a bachelor’s degree in Sociology.
He married Jan D. Houser on October 18, 1975, in Auburn, Indiana, and she survives in Conway, South Carolina.
Tim was a probation officer for the DeKalb County Probation Department before becoming chief probation officer. He then served as bailiff for DeKalb County Superior Court #2.
He was a member of the Salem Community Church. He also served as an elder when he was a member of the Auburn Presbyterian Church and Garrett Presbyterian Church.
Tim was a member of the Auburn Masonic Lodge, served as an officer and board member for the Probation Officers Professional Association of Indiana, and was a member of the Indiana University Varsity Club.
Also surviving are his mother, Evelyn McAlhany of Waterloo; two children, Robert R. and Meghanne McAlhany of Auburn, and Jen M. McAlhany of Conway, South Carolina; five grandchildren, Mollyanne McAlhany, Gracelynn McAlhany, Lucas McFall, including Godchildren, David Kueber and Katie Kueber; and a sister, Toni A. McAlhany of Waterloo.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 23, 2026, at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center St., Auburn, with visitation from 10 – 11 a.m. Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home
The Rev. Bill Haworth will be officiating.
Burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Auburn.
Visitation also will be from 3 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at the funeral home.
