Auburn – Vincent Pietracatella, 83 of Auburn passed away Friday March 22, 2024 at Betz nursing Home in Auburn.
He was born September 16, 1940 in Staten Island, New York to Beneditto and Giacoma (Poliseno) Pietracatella.
Vincent worked for the city of New York, Department of Sanitation as an operating engineer, retiring in 1995.
He was a member of the Auburn Presbyterian Church and the Auburn Elks Lodge. He was a member of and active in the Auburn, Cord Duesenberg Club. He and his wife Barbara were sponsors of the youth program, X cup Division of the Great Race thru the NATMUS and Ford Museums. He had a passion for and loved the Auburn Automobile. In 1958 when he was 17 years old he drove his 1935 Auburn V-6 from Staten Island to Auburn by himself to be part of the parade. His father had to drive him to the bridge and he researched the route to Auburn because he was too young to drive in New York and certain towns on the way to Auburn.
Vincent married Barbara Larsen in February 1961 in Staten Island and she survives in Auburn. They celebrated 63 years of marriage this past February.
He is also survived by a daughter and son in law, Valerie and Andrew Zimmerman of Kendallville; 3 grandchildren, Catherine (Kevan Roche) Picozzi, John-Vincent (Emily) Picozzi and Jenna (Stephanie) Picozzi; 2 sisters, Carol Pietracatella of New Jersey, Alice Pietracatella of Staten Island, and Barbara’s cousin William and Marian Nilsen of Auburn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Vincent Pietracatella Jr, and a sister Bernice Pietracatella.
Services will be 11 AM Tuesday March 26, 2024 at the Auburn Presbyterian Church, 111 West 12th Street, Auburn, IN with Rev David Lawrence officiating. Calling is Monday from 2 to 7 PM at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center Street, Auburn, IN and also 1 hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church from 10 to 11.Memorials can be given in memory of Vincent to the Auburn Presbyterian Church.
