Wayne A. Burdick, 87, of Auburn, passed away Thursday, September 19, 2024, at Canterbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Fort Wayne.
He was born October 21, 1936, in Chillicothe, Illinois to Albert and Helen (Hough) Burdick.
He married Sue A. Vogelpohl on April 26, 1969, at the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Butler.
Wayne worked for the Rieke Corporation in Auburn as a plastic injections mold setter for 30 years, retiring in 1999. He also owned and operated Wayne’s Woodworking in Auburn.
He was a member of the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Auburn.
Wayne enjoyed volunteering at Culligan’s Water in Auburn for several years. He also loved following the NASCAR circuit.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Sue A. Burdick of Auburn; daughter and son-in-law Patti S. and Kevin Goodman of Auburn; son Christopher W. Burdick of Centerville; three grandchildren, Misty Kay, Dustin Christopher and Jordan Goodman; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson Brian Coburn; brother Don Burdick; and a sister Dorothy H. “Dot” Esterly.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center St., Auburn, with the Rev. Jonathan Hunter officiating.
Burial will take place at a later date at Roselawn Cemetery in Auburn.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m.–1 p.m. Saturday, September 28, 2024, prior to the service at the funeral home.
