With sad, but grateful hearts we announce the passing of Wayne Lee Michael, who peacefully departed this world on Sunday, January 26th, 2025 at the age of 94, into an inheritance kept in heaven for him. Born on May 6, 1930 in Muncie, Indiana, a son of the late Lewis and Gladys Michael. Wayne lived his life as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and faithful servant of God. In December, 1951 he married the love of his life, Carolyn Sue, one week before he shipped out for the front lines in Korea. They built a beautiful marriage that has lasted over 73 years. Together they raised five children - Alan, Randy, Cindy, Mark and Tom.
Wayne’s love for Christ and His church may have begun through (Carolyn) Sue, but God’s call on his life led him to over 60 years as a minister, Bible teacher, and elder. His ability to know and memorize God’s Word was amazing. He applied it through his preaching, teaching, song-writing and poetry, because he loved people and wanted them to know Jesus.
He also had a great love for design. By trade, he was a tool designer and project engineer, but he was also known to design houses, church additions, campers, patio layout, even dental tools, and many other things.
Wayne leaves behind, not just a grieving family, but a community forever touched by his kindness, humor and unwavering devotion. His love for his family was unmatched, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Sue; his children, Alan (Katrina), Randy (Freida), Cindy, and Tom (Connie), his sister, Sue Ann Sells and many nieces and nephews who he loved very much. His legacy also lives on through his 15 grand-children and 18 great-grand-children (one on the way). Wayne is preceded in death by two brothers, Alan and David; his son, Mark (Susan) and his favorite son-in-law, Bruce Schlosser (Cindy).
The family will receive friends from 12 to 2 PM, Saturday, February 1, 2025 at the Auburn Church of Christ, 208 West 18th Street, Auburn, IN 46706 with his funeral service to begin at 2 PM at the church.
