Auburn – William A. “Bill” Nelson, 64, of Auburn, died Saturday, February 29, 2020, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born April 15, 1955, in Garrett to Harold Eugene “Gene” and Virginia M. (Blevins) Nelson. His father has preceded him in death and his mother survives in Auburn.
Bill worked as a journeyman press operator for the Messenger Corp in Auburn and then went to work as a lab Technician for Heidtman Steel in Butler.
Surviving are two children and their spouses, William Ryan and Sarah Nelson of St. Joe, and Stephanie and Andy Rice of Auburn; seven grandchildren, Annjessica (Brandon) Nissley of Fort Wayne, Lilly Rice of Auburn, Tennly Rice of Auburn, Piper Nelson of St. Joe, Callen Nelson of St. Joe, Elwyn Nelson of St. Joe and Ginnie Nelson of St. Joe; great granddaughter, Asuna Nissley of Fort Wayne; and three siblings, Ed Nelson of Auburn, Kenny Nelson of Auburn and Kathy Mallard of Auburn .
He was preceded in death by a brother, Steve Nelson.
A memorial service will take place at noon on Saturday, March 7, 2020, at New Hope Christian Center, 900 S. Wayne St., Waterloo. The Rev. Ralph Diehl will be officiating.
A gathering of family and friends will take place from 10 a.m. – noon on Saturday, March 7, 2020, prior to the service at the church.
