Eugene J Beber

Garrett – Eugene J Beber, 92 formerly of Garrett passed away Saturday August 2, 2014 at Chandler Place in Kendallville.

Born in Garrett, he was the son of the late Leroy C and Bertha (Dreher) Beber.

He and his wife Doris lived in Sebring FL for 20 years before moving back to Garrett in 2008.

Eugene was Assistant Postmaster at the Garrett Post Office for 30 years before retiring in 1983 and he was a WWII Army veteran.

He was a member of St Joseph Catholic Church, a life member of the Garrett American Legion, life member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of the Garrett Eagles and a former member of the Moose.

Eugene married Doris Faust on August 31, 1946 and she passed away January 19, 2009.

He is survived by 3 children, Kathy L (Jack) Guthrie of Kendallville, Debbie A (Dale) Pfeiffer of Garrett, Paul L (Bridget) Beber of Garrett. A daughter in law Regina Beber of Manassa, VA.  There are 11 grandchildren,  21 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Daniel Beber, a granddaughter, Christy M Pfeiffer, a great grandson Jeffrey Mead, 1 sister, Evelyn Burniston and 3 brothers, Charles Beber, Leroy Beber and William Beber.

A graveside service is scheduled for 11 AM Friday August 8, 2014, at Calvary Cemetery, Garrett. Preferred memorials are to St. Joseph Catholic School or Parkview Noble Hospice.
