Mitzi Kay Morton, 79, passed away Friday, July 22, 2016, at Auburn Village in Auburn.

Kay was born March 8, 1937, in Auburn. She married Howard Morton on June 28, 1958, in Angola, and he passed away March 1, 2013.

Kay started working for the Auburn Rubber Company and later retired from Cooper Standard in Auburn after 15 years, retiring in 1988.

She was a member of the St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Auburn. She was also a member of the Women of the Moose Chapter 261 where she served in all chairs including, Regent and Junior Regent. She was very active in the Heimach Senior Activity Center in Auburn and began volunteering in 1994. She served as tour escort for the Heimach Center for 10 years and activities director chairman for several fundraisers.

Kay is survived by a son-in-law, Harry Simmonds of New Jersey; two granddaughters, Heather Kay Simmonds Pino and Crystal Star Simmonds, both of New Jersey; seven great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Byron and Ellen Beck of Auburn; and a sister and brother-in-law, Lela and Lonnie Furrow of Pulaski, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Helen (Haifley) Beck; her daughter, Carmilla Kay Simmonds; a granddaughter, Tara A. Simmonds Hayes; a brother, Basil Krathwohl; and a step-brother, Spencer Beck.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center St., Auburn, with the Rev. Donovan Coley officiating.

Burial will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery in Auburn.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association or the Heimach Senior Activity Center in Auburn.
