Ashley – Otis Burdette Parr, 93 of Ashley passed away, May 19, 2017, a few hours before returning to his home. He was a dairy farmer in Fairfield Township for 40 years, receiving notoriety for his grand champion dairy, Parrish Acres, including being published in the Prairie Farmer magazine for Award winning crops. Moving after retirement to spend his remaining time on earth at his residence in Smithfield Township, which was a lifelong dream. He was active in 4H & the Fairfield Township Election Board. He was a decorated Security officer, as well as a WWII Veteran, serving in the US Army. He enjoyed spending time in the garden and fishing with his family. He was known for sharing his garden crops with others, teaching his grandchildren farming skills, helping others in need and was a champion pie baker. He was born on February 22, 1924, to the late Charles Earl Parr and Kathryn (Hovarter) Parr. He married Lydia Ruth Parr on June 9, 1946 and she passed away June 9, 1978. Surviving are sons, Thomas Parr of Corunna and Timothy Parr of Osceola; daughters, Marcia Schamberg of Huntertown and Marcella Foster of Ashley; Grandchildren, Bryan Parr, Heidi Ross, Thomas Parr, Kelly Henderson, Kimberly Franks, and Caleb Foster; Great Grandchildren, Ethan Parr, Cameron Ross, TJ Ross, Audra Ross, Nathan Henderson, Cierra Henderson and Aiden Parr. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a son Ronald Parr, 2 brothers and 5 sisters. Services will be 11 AM Wednesday May 24, 2017 at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 875 South Wayne Street, Waterloo, IN. Burial will be in Fairfield Cemetery. Calling is Tuesday from 4 to 8 PM and also 1 hour prior to the service Wednesday from 10 to 11 all at the funeral home.
