Our sympathies to the family. Bob was such a gem-always ready with a smile and a helping hand. We first met Bob at Betz Nursing Home during my step-father's stay there and was a wonderful help to our family. We admired how he cared for his wife and helped others around him also. A good man who will be missed by many.

Mr. Rankin was the Chief Technician when I graduated from The Parkview Memorial Hospital School of X-Ray in 1958. I dropped the MR. when Bob joined us for lunch several times over recent years. He was a genuine pleasant gentleman with great stories to share. He will be missed. My sympathy to his family.

We were so sorry to hear of Mr. Rankin's passing. We became acquainted with him back in 2003 at Betz Nursing Home when his wife was there and my father was also there. He was such a friendly and neat person to talk to. Then we found out we lived in the same neighborhood and always looked for him working at the hospital. Our sympathy and prayers to you all.

We will miss seeing Bob at Saturday night Mass at Immaculate Conception. He was a kind and thoughtful man. He is with God now. May God be with his family! Melody and Orville Rolston

Bob was such a delight to work with he always had a smile and a kind word to share with all. He made bad days good and good days better. He rescued me more than once and would always check to see if we were ok. His spirit was gentle and his heart so caring. The patients at DeKalb Health were so blessed to have such a great man to assist and care for them. He shared many stories of his family and always would ask about mine. I never had a grandpa but would have wished for someone like Bob if I had. People were important to Bob and you always knew this and saw it in his everyday living. The heavens claimed an angel this week and he will be very much missed.
